Middle and High School

Middle and High school students gather together Wednesday nights from 7-8:30 for food, fun, friendship building, high impact games, and lively discussions on God’s relevance to our lives today and how He desires to be a part of everything that we do. Coming soon will be a new Student Ministry praise band, Drama, and lots of other awesome stuff that is sure to get you pumped up. There is a contemporary worship service from 6-7 and dinner prior to that at 5:15 p.m., to launch into the night. Come out and check it out, you won’t be disappointed!

Grades 1-5

Jam (Jesus and Me) launches from 6:00--8:00 p.m. on Wednesday nights and includes Bible reading and discussion, fun games, singing, and of course food time! It’s a time when kids can come together to learn about Jesus while having a ton of fun as well as develop relationships with other kids and adults. It is led by four incredible adults that are passionate about ministry to these kids! For more information contact JAM Coaches Katie Haen or Dartania Smith.

Children birth through Kindergarten

Structured pre-school activities and instruction is available for all children birth through Kindergarten on Wednesday evenings from 6:00-8:00 p.m. There are two separate areas that provide tender loving care for children as well as Bible teaching in an age appropriate manner. Hope Smock is our Pre-school coordinator and is an expert at facilitating the best Christian based care and age appropriate teaching around.

Friday Night Junior & Senior Activities

Friday night is “Hang out Night” at the “Cove” for all junior and senior high students. What is the “Cove” you ask? It’s a building adjacent to the church parking lot that is our Student Ministry activity center. There is a 1950’s retro full functioning kitchen, ping pong, pool, Xbox 360, and other games. There is also a room for prayer or Bible study and a fully functional computer and printer for homework will be coming in the near future. “Hang out Night” is from 6:00 to midnight on Friday nights and there are at least two adult coaches there at all
times.

Additional weekly Student Ministry Activities

There are additional studies and groups targeted for Junior and Senior high students that will facilitate spiritual growth in many different ways. Those are scheduled numerous times of the year and will be posted on the web site at least four weeks prior to starting. These groups will meet on various nights of the week.

Exciting Student Ministry Events

Annual retreats, mission projects, local service opportunities, Summer Christ in Youth Conference, movie and game nights, all night lock-ins, Vacation Bible School, sporting events, and many other opportunities are another part of what students can look forward to at Valley Baptist Church. These events happen at various times of the year and will be posted to this web site at least four weeks prior to the event. Some events may require registration fees and pre-registration.

Sunday Student Ministry

Our all church worship /Praise services are at 8:15 and 10:45 a.m. on Sunday’s with Sunday School groups meeting from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Our Junior high students meet in the lower level of the main church building while the senior high meets at “The Cove” building. Both the junior and senior high receive challenging teaching and participate in fruitful discussions of the Bible and how the Word of God applies to their everyday lives.

Sunday Children’s Ministries

Valley Baptist provides excellent Bible based teaching on Sunday mornings during the 9:30-10:30 hour for children through grade five. The structure being utilized is termed the “Rotation Model” and is on the cutting edge of innovative ministry with children. Each month there is a specific segment of scripture that is focused upon form four different approaches. The four workshops are “The Temple”, Art, Drama, Audio Visual, and Computer based learning.

The Temple is where the scriptures are thoroughly covered along with memorization and discussion of application to the kids lives.

The art workshop helps the children to translate the Bible principal into artistic expression that is meaningful and special to each child.

The Audio/Visual workshop is designed to integrate the audio and visual senses into the process of learning the Bible and thereby reinforce the principals from a multi-sensory perspective.

The Computer lab is intended to merge technology into the practical application of the learning process as well as to demonstrate the Bibles relevance in contemporary society.

When all four approaches merge into the learning process the children have a multidimensional perspective of Jesus and the Kingdom that not only facilitates a more comprehensive understanding but helps the message to imbed in their hearts.

Each Sunday School class has a personal Shepherd assigned to it that goes from station to station with the children. This provided continuity for the children as they interact with the various workshop teachers and allows the Shepherds and children to develop mentoring relationships.
